DGB is the utility and governance token of Digibyte. Launched in 2014. DigiByte is a volunteer based, global community driven project which uses Proof-of-Work to validate network transactions. The blockchain can be used for digital assets, smart contracts, decentralised applications, and secure authentication. Like Bitcoin, DigiByte uses UTXO (Unspent Transaction Outputs) to keep track of its transactions. It is the fastest block time of any UTXO coins with a new coin being mined every 15 seconds. Digi-Shield is a core component of the blockchain and is a feature that has been replicated in over 20 other blockchains such as Ethereum, Zcash, and Dogecoin. The blockchain also uses 5 different mining algorithms, this increases the decentralisation of the network which in turn makes it more secure.
